Properties Aagent
10% is an injectable solution containing gentamicin, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic, which is highly effective against a wide variety of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Gentamicin is able to kill bacteria by a dual mechanism, after brief contact with them.
Intracellular killing: Gentamicin irreversibly binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, causing misreading of t-RNA and leaving the bacteria unable to synthesize proteins vital for their growth.
Surface killing: Gentamicin disrupts the structure of the bacterial membrane, leading to cell lysis.
Two lethal effects in concert make Aagent particularly effective and the antibiotic of first choice for bacterial infections resistant to conventional antibiotics.
Aagent 10% is rapidly and completely absorbed from the injection site. Peak serum concentrations, bactericidal to sensitive bacteria, are reached within 30 minutes and distribution into tissues is rapid and effective.
